Blackjack

Another classic favourite we bring you at ClubHollywood is none other than online Blackjack. Played with two standard decks of 52 cards - not including the Jokers, the objective of the game is to get your hand as close to a total amount of 21 as possible, without 'busting' or having your cards amount to more than 21 all with having to beat the dealer's hand. A tie returns your bet and a winning hand pays the made bet 1 to 1.

Since its introduction, Blackjack has evolved and many variants have been created that promise more challenge to players. ClubHollywood offers patrons four additional Blackjack variants including Blackjack Switch, Blackjack Surrender, 21 Duel Blackjack and Progressive Blackjack ™ that enables you to make more money!

The game begins when you hit the "deal" button, followed by these simple steps:

  • You are required to place a bet prior to being dealt by our ClubHollywood Dealer, to do so click on a selected chip - every click on this chip will increase your bet. To remove bets, select your chip stack on the table - every click now will lessen your bet.
  • If the Dealer has an Ace as his up card you are offered Insurance - explained in Standard Blackjack Rules.
  • Now you have the options to either Hit, Stand or Split - explained in Standard Blackjack Rules.

What You Need To Know

Standard Blackjack Rules

Some basics you will need to know before getting started at Blackjack are:

  • The two decks of cards used must always be shuffled before each round.
  • When the Dealer gives out two cards to each player including himself, one of his card's must be dealt face up and the other face down with player cards both facing down
  • All picture cards have the value of 10, while number cards ranging from 2-10, count as face value with Aces valued at either 1 or 11.
  • If you receive an ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards, you have Blackjack and win 1.5 times your bet (if your bet was $10, you receive $25). Blackjack beats a score of 21.
  • If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the Dealer's, you win your bet amount (if your bet was $10, you receive $20).
  • If the total value of your cards is more than 21, you "bust" and lose your bet. If you and the Dealer have the same card total (17 and up) neither one of you win, your bet is returned to you in a "push".

ClubHollywood Blackjack follows the standard "Las Vegas Strip" rules, with the following exceptions:

  • After each round, used cards are returned to the deck and the deck is shuffled.
  • The player may not split a split hand.
  • Only one card is drawn to split Aces.
  • The player may "double" after "splitting".
  • The Dealer will not check for Blackjack in any case.
  • If the player "doubles" and the Dealer's first card is 11 (Ace) in value, and the Dealer gets Blackjack, the player loses both his bets. If the Dealer's first card is 10 in value, and the Dealer gets Blackjack, the player gets the "double" bet back.

Standard Blackjack Betting Rules

Betting Types Descriptions
Split If your first two cards have the same value, you may split them into two separate hands by placing a second bet equal to the original bet. You will then draw additional cards to each hand. You may draw as many cards as you like on each split hand, but if you split two aces, you receive only one additional card for each ace. If you receive an ace and a ten-value card in a split hand, it is considered 21 and not Blackjack.
Double If, after you are dealt your first two cards, you think that the third card will allow you to beat the Dealer's hand, you can double your bet. The bet amount becomes twice the original (with the difference taken out of your balance), and you are dealt one more card.
Insurance If the Dealer shows an Ace in his initial hand, you are given a chance to insure your bet against him having a Blackjack. If you get Insurance, an amount equal to half your original bet is placed separately on the table. If the Dealer does have Blackjack, you are paid 2 to 1 on your insurance. This way you do not lose your original bet (because you get the 2x half your original bet, plus the insurance amount back). If the Dealer does not have Blackjack, you lose the insurance amount, even if you end up losing.
10 Card Charlie It is theoretically possible for you to draw 10 cards without going bust. In this case, you automatically win, except when the Dealer has a Blackjack.

Winnings Table

Terms Pays
Winning Hand 1 to 1
Insurance 2 to 1
Blackjack 3 to 2

Blackjack Switch Rules

The rules for Blackjack Switch are basically the same as standard Blackjack except you have two hands which you play in turn - first the right and then the left, after which the Dealer plays his hand. Please be mindful that by clicking on the normal bet area, you will be placing two identical bets - one for each of your hands.
Exceptions from the standard Blackjack rules are:

  • There are two bet areas normal and Super Match. The normal bet area is any of the two larger areas and the Super Match bet area is the small area.
  • The Dealer always hits soft 17 - meaning he will be required to draw one more card when he has 17 with an Ace counted as 11.
  • Blackjacks pay 1/1 instead of 3/2 although more Blackjacks are created due to the Switching option - explained below.

Additional features to Blackjack Switch include:

Options Descriptions
Peek If the Dealer's up card is an Ace or a 10-card, the Dealer will peek at his cards to check for Blackjack before the player makes his moves. If the Dealer does in fact have Blackjack and the player doesn't, he will reveal his cards and collect all bets, and the game round will be over with the Dealer winning. If either of the player's two initial hands (before Switching) makes up Blackjack, that hand "pushes" against the Dealer and the bet for it is returned to the player.
Switch Prior to any hits, you may switch the top cards of your two hands.
Push 22 Dealer will "push" on a total of 22 (except Blackjacks will still win).   This means that whenever the Dealer's total reaches 22, all bets are 'pushed', regardless of their total except if a player either has a Blackjack or has 'bust'.
Super Match The small circle between the standard bet areas is the super bet area. The super bet wins if your initial four cards contain two or more matching cards. For example, if your right hand is a Queen and a Six, and your left hand a Queen and a King, you have a pair and your super bet wins. The win ratios are stated on the table.

Blackjack Surrender Rules

Standard Blackjack rules apply for Blackjack Surrender however you are allowed to "surrender" on the first two cards dealt, after the Dealer checks for Blackjack. If you "surrender", you will lose half your bet and the game round will end.

21 Duel Blackjack Rules

21 Duel Blackjack is a card game, played with six decks of cards. The object of the game is to have a hand totalling in value higher than the Dealer, however no higher than 21. This variation of Blackjack is very similar to standard Blackjack therefore most of the rules apply, apart from a few exceptions that will are explained below.
Exceptions from the standard Blackjack rules are:

  • All hands with a total of 21 are equal in this game, meaning an Ace and 10 hand ranks the same as three-cards amounting to 21.
  • Because this game may require you to place an additional bet, your balance should include enough money to cover the bet. The additional bet is the same size as your ante bet. If your balance is not high enough, you will be prompted.
  • You are also able to place a side bet by clicking on the area marked 2 UP.
    • This side bet is on the first three cards to be shown on the table (your face-up card and the two communal cards). If these cards contain any pair, you win 3:1 on your bet. If the three cards make up Three-Of-A-Kind, you win 20:1 on your bet.
  • In 21 Duel Blackjack, you will be dealt two cards, one face up and one face down with the Dealer dealt two cards face down.
  • Two more cards will be dealt face up in the middle of the table. These are the community cards - they are to be used in both your hand and the Dealer's hand.
  • You now have the option to "fold" or select a "left" or "right" card from the community cards.
  • The total hand value of your face-up card and the chosen community card will be revealed, after which you will have to choose to either "hit" or "stand" - enabling you to discard your face-down card and keep playing with your two remaining cards. This option is also chosen automatically if the two cards make up a total of 21 points.
  • The Dealer now reveals one card and chooses a community card. The Dealer's community card is chosen according to a strict set of rules explained below:
    • If the Dealer's total hand value is higher than 12 and higher than your hand, you lose both bets.
    • If your total hand value is higher than the Dealer's, you win 1:1 on both bets.
    • If the Dealer's point total is lower than 13 he does not qualify. You win 1:1 on your ante bet and "push" on the additional bet, even if your point total is lower than the Dealer's.
    • If the point totals are equal, it's a "push" and your bets are returned to you

Dealer's Rules

  • Once the player has made an option, the Dealer will proceed to reveal the first of his face-down cards and continues to choose a community card.
  • When choosing the community card, the Dealer must create the best possible hand according to the House Way - shown in the table below. The Dealer must choose the first possible option, with the better hands reflected at the top of the table.
  • The Dealer must also always hit on 16 or lower, and stand on 17. If the Dealer hits, his second face-down card is revealed. Its point value is added to his total hand value.
  • If the Dealer's hand is worth less than 13 points, the Dealer doesn't qualify and you win the round, even if your total hand value is lower than the Dealer's. In this case, you win even win the money on your ante bet, and "push" on the 2nd round of betting.

Progressive Blackjack™

ClubHollywood also offers you Progressive Blackjack™ games as an option to making additional bets in order to win an attractive Jackpot.

Here's how the Progressive Jackpot side bet works:While playing Blackjack, you have the option of making an additional bet in the attempt to win a Jackpot.

  • The cost of the side bet is $1 (or the equivalent in your currency), out of which a certain percentage goes to the Progressive Jackpot pool.
  • If you get a winning card combination as described in the progressive paytable, you will receive an additional payout.
  • The highest progressive payout is the Progressive Jackpot. It is won upon receiving four consecutive Aces of the same suit and starting from the first card in the hand.
  • Note that all progressive wins require that the card combinations (one to four Aces) are consecutive and starting from the first card in the hand.
  • These wins are awarded at the end of the game round, and if you've "split" your hand, they are calculated separately for each of the new hands.

Jackpot
One of the possible wins in Blackjack is the Progressive Jackpot. A small percentage of each bet, by every player in the game from ClubHollywood and online casinos within the network, is added to a common pot. When a player gets the desired results, that player wins the entire Jackpot (of which, in certain games you can also win part of it).

After a Jackpot has been won, a new pot is started, with the online casinos contributing a base amount of money or the seed. This ensures that even if you get a Jackpot result in a game right after someone else has won the Jackpot, you still stand a chance to receive a large win.

Each game has its own Jackpot, created by all the online casinos within the network that offer Progressive Jackpots.

Please note:

  • In some games you have to make a specific bet to be eligible for the Jackpot.
  • If you get disconnected in the middle of a game round, your game does not change the value of the Jackpot. The state of the game up to that point is remembered by the casino; the next time you log in you can finish your game round with the same odds and without placing a new bet.
  • If a Jackpot is being discontinued (a game is closed and removed from the casino client), you will be notified of it by the casino.

Here's how the Jackpot for Progressive Blackjack™ works:

Seed (the amount of money the Jackpot starts out with): 50 000 x your Jackpot bet size
Contribution rate (the percentage of each bet that goes into the Jackpot): 3%
Win condition (the result you require to win the Jackpot): Four (4) consecutive Aces of the same suit, starting from the 1st card in the hand
Win requirements (what is required from you to be eligible for the Jackpot): Place the Jackpot bet.
